Telstra Certifies Sequans Monarch 2 GM02S Module for NB-IoT

Enabling Full Dual-Mode LTE-M/NB-IoT Operation on Telstra’s Network

Sequans’ 5G cellular IoT module, Monarch 2 GM02S, delivering LTE-M and NB-IoT connectivity, is now certified by Telstra Australia for NB-IoT, following its earlier certification for LTE-M, and can be found on Telstra’s official list of certified modules. Monarch 2 GM02S is one of the industry’s most advanced LTE-M/NB-IoT modules with the unique ability to dynamically switch between LTE-M and NB-IoT.

Monarch 2 GM02S is built on Sequans’ second-generation Monarch 2 chip platform, which is designed and optimized to support massive IoT with ultra-high performance and ultra-low power consumption. It features a very small, yet cost-effective form factor and is an ideal connectivity solution for a wide range of IoT applications, including utility meters, sensors, trackers, and wearables for applications including smart home, smart city, ehealth, industrial, agricultural, financial, and security.

Monarch 2 GM02S provides powerful support for integrated eSIM (iUICC), enabled by its Common Criteria certified EAL5+ secure enclave that is standards-based, providing highest-level security for IoT devices. The secure enclave in Monarch 2 is the only one in the industry today that is fully GSMA compliant and can host a SIM function that can be remotely provisioned.

Monarch 2 GM02S also includes Sequans’ Single-SKU™ RF front end, supporting deployment in any band worldwide, for true global deployment capability. A low-power application MCU allows customers to port their own code into the module via a feature rich SDK. On top of its ultra-low power consumption, Monarch 2 GM02S utilizes a single rail power supply starting at 2.2 V, the lowest voltage supported by any LTE-M/NB-IoT module in the industry today, thereby unlocking more battery efficiency and eBOM savings.

In addition to Telstra, Monarch 2 GM02S has been certified by other leading operators, including Vodafone, AT&T (with FirstNet), T-Mobile, Verizon, NTT Docomo, KDDI, Deutsche Telekom, Spark New Zealand, and Chunghwa Telecom. The module has also received regulatory and industrial certifications from PTCRB, GCF, FCC/ISED, RED/UKCA, ACMA, JATE/TELEC, and NCC Taiwan. It has been shipping in volume since early 2021.

Monarch 2 GM02S module and its accompanying full-featured evaluation kit, Monarch 2 GM02S, can be purchased today from Mouser, Digi Key, Avnet and Richardson RFPD.
